GM UnitHires Firm To Process Auto Loans

General Motors Acceptance Corp., one of the world's largest automobile financing companies, has agreed to process consumer credit information through Credit Management Solutions Inc.'s on-line service, Credit Connection.

Under the deal, whose financial terms were not disclosed, Credit Management Solutions will make automatic credit processing available to more than 8,300 General Motor car and truck dealerships in the United States and Canada. Because the system can deliver credit decisions in minutes, dealers using it often report productivity increases.

GMAC, a subsidiary of General Motors Corp., is the largest automobile finance company to sign up for Credit Connection. Nissan Motor Acceptance Corp. also uses the service.

Banking companies using the year-old Credit Connection service include BankAmerica Corp., Barnett Banks Inc., NationsBank Corp., and Wells Fargo & Co.

"Credit Connection keeps us in step with the latest technology movement and will help us to offer quicker, efficient response time to our dealers and ultimately to consumers," said David Jones, a GMAC vice president.

Credit Management Solutions Inc. has supplied consumer credit automation and loan marketing software to major banks and nonbank financial institutions since 1987.

"Credit Connection is the future of fast and efficient credit," said James DeFrancesco, president and chief executive officer of Columbia, Md.- based Credit Management Solutions.

Several companies help manage the sales, installation, and support of Credit Connection, including Automatic Data Processing's dealer services group and Universal Computer Systems.

ADP is one of the world's largest independent computing services companies. Houston-based UCS is a systems integrator that specializes in work at auto dealerships.

Running from Credit Management Solutions' host computer in Columbia, Credit Connection operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
