Briefs: BankBoston Hires 2 From Chase for Asia

BankBoston Corp. announced two international hirings as part of an effort to strengthen its growing Asian operations.

The bank said it hired Francisco De La Hoz as country manager for Singapore and regional client manager in corporate banking and Loren Romano as managing director in charge of Asia syndications.

Both are based in BankBoston's Hong Kong office. Mr. De La Hoz reports to Russ Magarity, managing director and head of BankBoston's Asia region. Mr. Romano reports to Mr. Magarity and Sit Sei Wei, global head of BankBoston's emerging markets floating rate syndications group.

Mr. De La Hoz joins BankBoston after 18 years with Chase, where he specialized in Asian credits, capital markets structuring and pricing, and global relationship management.

Mr. Romano was also hired from Chase, where he had worked since 1981 in a variety of assignments in four countries. His most recent assignment was vice president of fixed-income sales, a Hong Kong-based position, where he was responsible for selling fixed-income emerging market investments to institutional and private clients in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Indonesia.
