In Brief: KeyBank Appoints a Vice Chairman

Sandra Maltby, who has headed KeyBank's small-business services for three years, was promoted to vice chairman for the bank's three main consumer segments, the KeyCorp subsidiary announced Wednesday.

In the newly created post, Ms. Maltby, 38, will lead KeyBank's efforts to reach small-business, mature market, and retail private banking customers. She is one of three vice chairmen at the $66 billion-asset bank.

She will continue to report to Robert G. Jones, 40, president of KeyBank's retail banking. Previously, he directly oversaw the mature market and retail private banking segments.

Before her promotion, Ms. Maltby had been an executive vice president. A KeyBank spokesman said there were no immediate plans to name a head of small-business services to succeed Ms. Maltby.

"Sandy's stellar performance and success with Key's small-business division make her ideally qualified to define the framework within which Key will develop the products and services consumers need to manage their finances and plan for their futures," Gary R. Allen, KeyBank chairman and chief executive officer, said in a prepared statement.
