Tech Bytes: Huntington Services President to Leave

Rick Sellers, president of Huntington Bancshares' operations unit, plans to leave his post at the end of the year.

Mr. Sellers, 48, has worked at the bank for 26 years and has headed Huntington Service Co. for 12 years.

The move has been in the works for several months. Both Mr. Sellers and a Huntington spokeswoman said the parting will be amicable. A search for a successor has already begun.

"There's no hidden message here-I don't think Huntington's in trouble or about to get bought or anything," Mr. Sellers said, adding with a chuckle, "If I thought we were going to get bought I'd stay and collect the dividends."

Mr. Sellers said he has been interviewing for a new job for the past six months, but could not devote as much effort to the search as he wanted.

He said he may wind up working at a start-up technology company, but he did not rule out a position with another bank.

"My thing right now is that I've been here for 26 years, and when's the right time to decide to do something different? I figured it's now time to do that," Mr. Sellers said.

Technology projects completed under Mr. Sellers' leadership include a migration from Unisys technology to IBM and the installation of new core banking software from Hogan Systems Inc.
