Roundup: Chase Wins SBA Award For Loans in NYC Area

Chase Manhattan Corp. has received the Pinnacle Award from the Small Business Administration for its lending in the New York City area.

Chase made 493 SBA loans totaling $26 million in the downstate New York region from October 1995 through September 1996, an increase of 190% from the previous year. Nearly one-third of sits SBA-guaranteed loans were to women or minority group members.

In November 1995, Chase announced a five-year plan to lend $3.4 billion to small businesses and nonprofit groups. About $1 billion is targeted to borrowers in low- to moderate-income areas.
