Card Briefs: U.S. Bancorp Widens ATM Surcharge Area

U.S. Bancorp said it would begin charging noncustomers $1.50 per transaction to use its automated teller machines in Oregon, Washington, and Northern California.

U.S. Bancorp has 1,250 ATMs in a six-state area. The fees have already been imposed in Nevada, Idaho, and Utah, where state laws made it legal to apply surcharges before Visa and MasterCard dropped their bans on the practice nationwide last April.
