Amsouth Picks Corillian Software for On-Line Access

Corillian Corp. said Amsouth Bank of Birmingham, Ala., has chosen its software to provide customers with on-line account access.

The $18.1 billion-asset Amsouth will use Corillian's Voyager software in conjunction with Microsoft Corp.'s Windows NT operating system. It is a vote for OFX, the Open Financial Exchange specification that Microsoft championed with Intuit Inc. and Checkfree Corp.

An Amsouth spokesman said it chose OFX to provide consistent information to customers using personal financial software like Microsoft Money and Intuit's Quicken.

Grayson Hall, Amsouth Bancorp.'s executive vice president of operations, said, "OFX is an efficient solution because we can leverage our in-house services," including an existing electronic bill payment processing system.

Separately, Amsouth said it licensed the Virtual Financial Manager from Security First Technologies to permit banking over the Internet beginning in the first quarter.

Amsouth will also deploy the Virtual Credit Card Manager software and will be a customer of the Security First data processing and customer service center in Atlanta.
