Capital Briefs: Deputy Comptroller to Take Early Retirement

Senior Deputy Comptroller for Administration Judith A. Walter is taking early retirement, effective Dec. 31.

Ms. Walter intends to finish a master's degree in social work in June, according to a Nov. 18 e-mail she sent to employees at the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. Ms. Walter said she plans to work with the "special problems of refugee and immigrant groups in the United States."

"The early retirement option gives me an opportunity to pursue a new career that I have been seriously considering for several years," she said. The OCC's current early retirement offer expires at yearend, she noted.

Before joining the OCC in 1979 as director of strategic analysis, Ms. Walter was vice president of corporate banking at Wells Fargo Bank. She moved into her current position in 1986.
