Tech Bytes: Destiny's Middleware Cleared for OFX Specs

Destiny Software said it has successfully tested OFX capability with its Granite Foundation software.

OFX, Open Financial Exchange, is the information exchange protocol for home banking and investment services endorsed by Checkfree Corp., Intuit Inc., and Microsoft Corp.

Granite Foundation is a type of middleware that lets financial institutions accommodate new types of delivery systems. The OFX capability lets a client bank provide multiple-account services via such software as Home Financial Network's HomeATM, Intuit's Quicken '98, and Microsoft Money '98.

Destiny president and chief executive officer Lucinda Duncalfe said Granite-OFX delivers "channel independence," which "gives financial institutions total control over their on-line systems."

The company's clients include Bank of America, First USA Bank, GE Capital Services, Advanta Corp., and Vanguard Group.
