In a move to ensure that business line goals and technology strategies are in sync, Bank of Hawaii and its holding company, Pacific Century Financial Corp., has imported Mary

Carryer from "down under." Carryer, who is coming from a four-year stint as general manager in charge of consumer marketing and product development for Sydney-based Westpac, will be vice chair of Pacific Century's U.S. mainland operations and its information management function. She will also be a member of Pacific Century's management committee. "Technology is an enabler to accomplish business goals," she says. "I will be responsible for ensuring that business and technology work together." ... NetRisk, the full-service enterprise risk management systems company recently launched by former Bankers Trust president Gene Shanks has recruited James Rogers and Murray Nash to the firm. Rogers, who will lead the technology group, comes from First Union, where he was managing director in the capital markets group, responsible for all business systems, including risk management, derivatives and foreign exchange. Nash, formerly senior manager of consulting firm Askari, Inc., will be a senior manager in NetRisk's advisory group. ... In yet another senior analyst defection from The Tower Group, Jim Beams has joined learning systems developer ActionSystems as vp of consulting, strategic business alliances.
