Toronto's Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) is helping its customers lick their Year 2000 problems by offering them a resource center on its Web site that includes a downloadable tool kit.

The tool kit, available for both corporate and retail customers, can be found at royalbank.com/ english/year2000/kit.html. Included in the kit: the conversion kit itself-a "zipped" file that takes 2.5 minutes to download-diagnostic tools, form letters, checklists, project guides, a certificate template and compliancy statement, FAQs, links to other Year 2000 sites and explanations of the millennium problem.

The downloadable file isn't an automated "fix"-becoming Year 2000- compliant requires re-writing millions of lines of code-but rather a methodology programmers can use to walk themselves through the correction process.
