In Brief: Ohio Thrift Plans to Charter Savings Bank

A Wooster, Ohio, state thrift plans to charter a new federal savings bank in nearby North Canton.

Wayne Savings Community Bank, which has filed applications with the Office of Thrift Supervision and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., would put up $3 million in capital for the new thrift, Village Savings Bank.

Charles F. Finn, president of Wayne Savings Community Bank and proposed chairman of Village Savings Bank, said the new thrift would operate independently of Wayne Savings.
