National City Bancshares Names Executive

National City Bancshares, Evansville, Ind., hired Curtis D. Ritterling as executive vice president.

He had been chairman, president, and chief executive officer of Boatmen's Bank of South Central Illinois, responsible for managing branches in Mount Vernon, Centralia, and Salem. NationsBank Corp. acquired St. Louis-based Boatmen's Bancshares in January.

Mr. Ritterling began his banking career in 1977 as a management trainee at Platte Valley State Bank in Kearney, Neb., and later was promoted to assistant cashier. In 1983 he became a vice president at Boatmen's Bank of Marshall, Mo.; in 1988 he was promoted to executive vice president and in 1990 to chairman, president, and CEO.
