B of A Widens Its PC Banking

BankAmerica Corp. expanded its PC banking service for small businesses, called Business Connect, to New Mexico, Texas, Arizona, and Nevada this month.

The bank plans to offer the service, which was introduced to California last year, in Alaska, Idaho, Washington, and Oregon early next year.

Business owners may use computers to check deposit balances, monitor cleared transactions, transfer funds, and gain access to business loans. The bank offers the service free for 30 days and then charges a $6.50 monthly fee for as many as 250 debit or credit transactions. It also charges $5 per month for a service that imports information from other software to reconcile checks.
