B of A Assigns New Chief To Asian Private Banking

BankAmerica Corp. announced it has tapped senior vice president Anthony P. Moody to be head of international private banking for Asia.

Mr. Moody will start work in Hong Kong in about two weeks, reporting to senior vice president Robert Lemos, head of international private banking for the San Francisco-based banking company. He succeeds K.C. Gan, who is now a country manager in Indonesia.

Mr. Moody spent seven years in Asia with Continental Bank Corp. until BankAmerica acquired it in 1994. Since then, he has been based in Chicago with the renamed Bank of America Illinois, handling private banking portfolio management as well as marketing, strategic planning, and administration for the investment management group.

Those duties have been assumed by senior vice president Lyle Logan, who has directed private bank marketing in the Chicago area.

A spokesman said Mr. Moody's responsibilities are broader than his predecessor's were, "reflecting our strategy to significantly bolster Bank of America's presence in Asia."

Mr. Gan oversaw staff private bankers in Asia, but Mr. Moody will also head up efforts to serve Asian clients and prospects in the United States.

A former general manager of Continental's Tokyo branch, Mr. Moody also oversaw its capital markets business for Asia; global private equity for Asia, Europe, and the United States; and Asian operations of the bank's London-based securities company.

BankAmerica has offices with private banking services in Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand. Private bankers catering to Asian clients are also stationed in New York, Miami, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego.

The company manages $50 billion of assets for wealthy clients worldwide with additional private banking offices in London; Geneva; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; and Jersey, Channel Islands.
