Cards Briefs: Transaction Data Carrier Extends Processor's Pact

Transaction Network Services Inc., a company that transports transaction data, said Dallas-based Sun Communications, a processor of automated teller machine transactions, has extended its contract for two years.

Sun Communications has been a customer of Transaction Network Services since 1995.

Under the terms of the new agreement, Sun Communications will provide a minimum of a million transactions a month over the Transaction Network Services system, plus all of its new ATM transactions.

Transaction Network Services also said its chief financial officer, Brian K. Barnum, is leaving to join Classroom Holdings Inc., a Los Angeles- based Internet educational publishing venture.

Mr. Barnum will be the chief financial officer of the Internet company, formed by a Los Angeles investment group, Brentwood Associates Private Equity.
