Banking Software Company Names Consultant President

Carreker Group has a new president.

Richard L. Linting, 51, joined the Dallas banking software and services company at the beginning of January after 30 years' experience in consulting-23 of them with Andersen Consulting in Chicago.

Mr. Linting became familiar with Carreker and its executives about 18 months ago, when he did some consulting work for the company.

He said his decision to join Carreker was based on his admiration for its management and its involvement in bank operations.

J.D. Carreker, the company's chief executive officer and chairman, said Mr. Linting would play a central role in the company's effort to expand its customer base and range of services.

Carreker specializes in helping banks streamline their check processing and other operations.

In his time with Andersen, Mr. Linting held a number of posts, including managing director, partner, and member of the worldwide operations committee. He left in 1989 to work independently.

His projects in the last few years included Electronic Data Systems Corp.'s acquisition of A.T. Kearney in 1995 and Computer Sciences Corp.'s creation of CSC Consulting.

"I like to look at opportunities or situations in which I think I can help make a difference," Mr. Linting said.

He holds an MBA in mathematical methods from the University of Chicago and a BBA in accounting from the University of Notre Dame.
