Statewide Names Executive

MIDDLE ATLANTIC

Statewide Financial Corp., Jersey City, has promoted Augustine F. Jehle to senior vice president of its Statewide Savings Bank.

He is responsible for human resources, risk management, and the sale of nontraditional bank products. His new responsibilities include commercial business development.

Mr. Jehle, who joined the bank in 1989, remains administrative vice president and corporate secretary with the holding company.

He began his career in 1965 at Chemical Bank in the corporate lending division, and transferred to its international division in 1973. Mr. Jehle became executive vice president, director, and chief executive of Bank of Liberia, Chemical's West African affiliate, and in 1977 was appointed general manager of Chemical's Nassau, Bahamas office.
