Tech Bytes: Security First in Deal To Market Virus Shield

Querisoft Inc., an Atlanta-based developer of Internet security software, said it has signed an agreement to be a reseller of a related product from Security First Technologies.

The product, known as Troy, provides virus protection and other security measures that go beyond the functions usually performed by firewalls. Troy is part of the security setup of Security First Technologies' parent operation, Security First Network Bank of Atlanta.

According to a statement from Querisoft, "If a hacker should breach an organization's firewall, Troy presents yet another layer of defense that drastically reduces the damage that can be inflicted on a corporate network."

David Luther, president of Security First's network security division, said the growing availability of "shareware" and other freely distributed programs has made systems management more complex and raised the likelihood of unauthorized entry and virus introduction.
