Capital Briefs: Morgan Puts Ex-Sen. Bradley on Council

Former U.S. Senator Bill Bradley has been hired as vice chairman of J.P. Morgan & Co.'s international council and as a senior adviser, the banking company announced Thursday.

The position is part-time; Morgan refused to disclose Mr. Bradley's salary.

The international council is led by former U.S. secretary of state George P. Shultz and comprises business and political leaders from around the world. The group meets regularly to discuss Morgan's operations and to counsel management.

Mr. Bradley's advisory duties would include economic policy and emerging nations, said Morgan officials.

A New Jersey Democrat, Mr. Bradley was in the U.S. Senate from 1979 until 1997. During his tenure, he sat on the Finance Committee, the Energy and Natural Resources Committee, and the Special Committee on Intelligence. He decided not to seek reelection last year.
