Granite Bank Names Executive

NEW ENGLAND

Granite Bank, Keene, N.H., has named James L. Koontz chairman of the board. He succeeds Stacey W. Cole, who retired at 75 after 38 years at the bank, the last 13 as chairman.

Mr. Koontz, 62, is president and chief executive of Kingsbury Corp., a Keene-based machine-tool manufacturer. He has been a Granite Bank director since 1993. He previously served as director at Fleet Bank of New Hampshire in Nashua, and at Indian Head Bank in Keene before Fleet acquired it.

Granite Bank is the $360 million-asset principal subsidiary of Granite State Bankshares.
