Tech Bytes: U.S. Cryptography Envoy to Address Parley

David L. Aaron, the U.S. permanent representative to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development in Paris and President Clinton's special envoy for cryptography, will be keynote speaker at RSA Data Security Inc.'s annual conference Jan. 28-31 in San Francisco.

The conference, one of the premier annual events focusing on network security issues including those affecting the financial industry, has a tradition of inviting public-sector experts to mingle with technologists and practitioners. Ambassador Aaron issued a statement that his visit can assist his mission of "fostering a consensus on the development of an international key management infrastructure."

RSA, the data encryption leader and subsidiary of Security Dynamics Technologies Inc., has scheduled more than 60 panels and conference sessions. Among the other prominent speakers scheduled are Taher Elgamal, chief scientist at Netscape Communications Corp.; Kathy Kincaid, director of information technology security at International Business Machines Corp.; Ronald Rivest, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology professor who founded RSA; David Luther, president of SecureWare Inc.; and James Galvin, a CommerceNet vice president.
