In Brief: Commonwealth Service Gives Mortgage Preview

Commonwealth Bank is letting people know how much home they can afford-before they choose a property.

A phone program launched this month allows people to dial in income and other information to determine what mortgage type and amount they would qualify for.

The service, offered by ComNet Mortgage Services, the bank's home- lending arm, reflects lenders' growing efforts to capture customers as early as possible in the buying process.

With the assistance, customers "can better target their searches toward the size and price home they can afford," said Ronald J. Altieri, senior vice president of ComNet Mortgage Services.

Separately, Commonwealth named Karen S. Magurn as regional vice president to further the lending unit's push into the Philadelphia area.
