1st Nationwide Becomes California Federal

First Nationwide Bank has adopted the name and logo of California Federal Bank, which its parent company acquired in January.

First Nationwide Holdings also has changed its name, to Cal Fed Bancorp.

The new Cal Fed has $30 billion of assets, 228 branches, and 5,500 employees. It is a subsidiary of privately held Mac Andrews & Forbes Holdings, New York.
