Smart Bits: GTE's SET Interoperability Test Completed

GTE Corp. and Maithean Inc., an electronic commerce system provider, said they completed SET interoperability testing between the GTE Cybertrust certification authority and Maithean's NetPay software.

The companies said this clears the way for pilot testing involving SET- compliant digital certificates for consumers, merchants, and banks.

"Each new achievement of full system operability is a significant step in the evolution of SET," said Steve Mott, senior vice president of MasterCard International, which has designated GTE its preferred certification vendor. "MasterCard is pleased to be working closely with both companies, and we look forward to the first round of pilots in the weeks ahead."
