Roundup: BankAmerica Signs Environmental Code

BankAmerica Corp. has endorsed the Ceres Principles, a corporate code of conduct for environmental responsibility.

Most of the corporations that have signed the Ceres Principles have been industrial and manufacturing companies; BankAmerica is the first Fortune 500 service sector company to do so.

"Our Ceres affiliation is consistent with our own environmental principles," said David A. Coulter, chairman and chief executive.

The Ceres Principles were introduced in 1989 as the Valdez Principles, and current signers include General Motors Corp., Bethlehem Steel Corp., Polaroid Corp., and Sun (Oil) Co.
