Citi Fla. Chief to Lead Mid-Atlantic Revamp

Citicorp said Carlos Palomares, president of its Florida unit, will take an expanded role as the New York money-center merges branch operations in the Mid-Atlantic states.

Mr. Palomares, who has been with Citicorp for 30 years and is based in Miami, will reengineer 26 branches in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia, along with Florida's 34-branch network. The current head of Mid-Atlantic operations, Thomas Dahl, will be reassigned, a spokeswoman said.

The consolidation aims to improve customer service and expand business opportunities. Mr. Palomares is credited with revamping Citicorp's consumer services in Florida since his appointment in 1992.
