Capital Briefs: Group Says It Has Aided 10,000 Home Purchases

The Neighborhood Reinvestment Corp. said Wednesday that it has helped 10,000 families buy houses during the first four years of a five-year home ownership program.

The congressionally chartered group, headed by Comptroller of the Currency Eugene A. Ludwig, worked with Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, World Savings and Loan Association, Chase Manhattan Corp., Citicorp, Fleet Financial Group, KeyCorp, and NationsBank Corp. to provide $707 million in new home financing. Three-quarters of borrowers earned less than $30,000 a year, 61% were minorities, and 42% were women.
