In Brief: SunTrust Files $600M Shelf Offering at SEC

SunTrust Banks Inc. has filed a shelf offering with the Securities and Exchange Commission for up to $600 million of debt securities and preferred stock to be offered by SunTrust Capital I and SunTrust Capital II.

The Atlanta bank holding company said each of the trusts would use the proceeds from preferred shares to buy subordinated debt securities from the company.

The company said it would use proceeds of the subordinated debt for general corporate needs, including investments in its subsidiaries.
