Boatmen's Defectors Win Mo. Pension Plan

The state employees of Missouri have moved their pension plan assets to a money management firm recently founded by investment managers that used to work at Boatmen's Bancshares.

The Missouri Local Government Employees Retirement System yanked $1.5 billion in funds out of Boatmen's Trust Co., now owned by NationsBank Corp., and parked the money in Rockwood Capital Advisers LLC. Rockwood will manage about $100 million of the funds.

Rockwood was formed in March when Frank J. Aten and five investment managers quit shortly after Boatmen's Bancshares was acquired by NationsBank.
