Clarification: 04/19/07 issue

An April 9 story, "St. Louis Bank Owner Buys Another Stake in California" (page 8), implied that banker James F. Dierberg's first acquired an interest in SierraWest Bancorp in February, when his Investors of America LP purchased $2.8 million of convertible debentures. (The debentures were converted into a 8.6% equity stake in the bank earlier this month.)

The debentures were purchased from Tidal Insurance-another investment group controlled by Mr. Dierberg-which acquired them in 1995.

Correction

A headline Tuesday on a page 9 story about a First American Financial Corp. acquisition deal gave the wrong home state for the target. Strategic Mortgage Services is based in Irvine, Calif.
