Briefs: BankBoston Taps Head For Global Trade Unit

BankBoston Corp. has hired Thomas P. Kingston as the managing director for global trade. He will oversee the bank's world trade business.

"The dynamics of today's global market places a premium on a company's ability to grow internationally," said Mr. Kingston in a prepared statement.

"We want to make the bank a 'one-stop source' that will help our clients expand globally as their business processes and markets change," he added.

Before taking the BankBoston post, Mr. Kingston was director of sales at Citicorp's global trade division.

He has over 25 years experience in global trade and correspondent banking with Bankers Trust New York Corp., Chase Manhattan Corp., and Citicorp.

BankBoston Corp., with assets of $64.8 billion, has established itself globally in trade products, particularly in Latin American countries such as Brazil and Argentina, and has similar expectations in Asia.
