Briefs: Fitch in Alliance with Thai Rating Firm

Fitch Investors Service has struck a three-year strategic alliance with Bangkok-based Thai Rating and Information Services.

The agreement is part of a broader effort by the rating agency to expand into major international markets. It provides for sharing knowledge and analysis along with joint product development and marketing.

Thai Rating, or TRIS, rates about 90 issuers, including industrial companies, finance companies, banks, and property developers. Fitch launched its international expansion by setting up a London office in 1995 and has since made a number of arrangements with credit rating agencies in Mexico, Argentina, Brazil, and America.
