BankBoston Fixed-Income Exec Heading South for Job at Barnett

Barnett Banks Inc. lured another money manager from New England to Florida to run fixed-income investments for its asset management subsidiary.

Jack A. Ablin, 39, of BankBoston Corp. will join the Jacksonville, Fla.- based banking company June 2 as executive vice president in charge of fixed-income investments for Barnett Capital Advisors Inc., a newly created position.

Barnett Capital was established last year and manages more than $10 billion of assets.

Mr. Ablin has been director of fixed-income for BankBoston's private bank division,with $8 billion of assets. His boss, Donna L. Terry, president of Barnett Capital Advisors, had been an institutional portfolio manager for Boston Co., a subsidiary of Mellon Bank Corp., before coming to Barnett last April.

Barnett's chief asset management executive, Richard H. Jones, was president of Fleet Investment Services before heading to Florida in 1995. Last year fellow Fleet veterans Peter Herlihy, Scott Alexander, and Jeffrey J. Wirth rejoined Mr. Jones.
