Tech Bytes: DLJ On-Line Brokerage Taps Encryption Product

RSA Data Security Inc. said it will be supplying data encryption technology for DLJ Direct for Windows, the software associated with Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Inc.'s on-line brokerage service.

The Windows-based software provides access to stock, options, and mutual fund trading, quotes, charts of price movements, personalized alerts, news and commentary, and research and planning tools. DLJ will rely on RSA's widely used BSAFE cryptography engine to enhance security and privacy.

"In addition to supporting Secure Sockets Layer and 40- and 128-bit (encryption) technology, RSA is recognized as both a pioneer and leader in the security marketplace," said Suresh Kumar, chief information officer for DLJ Direct. "As a result, we are confident that we are providing our investors with one of the most reliable on-line security technologies available."
