Smart Bits: Smart Card Association Elects Directors

The Smart Card Industry Association announced the election of three new directors at its annual member meeting, held during the recent Cardtech/Securtech conference in Washington.

The new board members are: R. Kirk Brafford, program manager, Giesecke & Devrient America Inc.; Bruce Caswell, manager for North America, IBM Global Smart Card Solutions; and Bill Norwood, vice president of new business development, Cybermark.

There were six returnees: Jonathan Adams, marketing director, North American smart cards, Schlumberger; Charles Cagliostro, director, strategic alliances and closed systems, Gemplus Americas; Gerald Hubbard, vice president of marketing, Bull Personal Transaction Systems; Jim Lout, president, Precis Smart Card Systems Inc.; Benjamin Miller, founder and chairman, Cardtech/Securtech; and Peter Quadagno, president, Quadagno & Associates.

Mr. Lout was elected chairman, Mr. Quadagno vice chairman, Mr. Caswell treasurer, and Mr. Adams secretary.
