In Brief: Carolina Appointments Anticipate Megamerger

NationsBank Corp. on Wednesday named several executives to run operations in the Carolinas in conjunction with its coming merger with BankAmerica Corp.

Jim McColl, executive vice president in charge of economic development for North and South Carolina, will continue that role while also overseeing economic development in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. He will report to Joel Smith, recently appointed East Region president.

Also, Jerry Cole, current senior vice president with the Carolinas community banking division, will become the chief Carolinas consumer banking executive; and Tom Anderson, Carolinas business banking executive, was named as president for South Carolina.

SeparatelyNationsBank has named Alison "Lynn" Reaser as chief economist for its private client group, the investment advisory unit serving affluent individuals and families.

She will report to Michael E. Kenneally, president of NationsBank Private Investments, which manages more than $71 billion on behalf of private client group customers.

Ms. Reaser was chief economist at Barnett Banks Inc., which was acquired by NationsBank. Before joining Barnett she had worked for over 20 years as economist for First Interstate Bancorp.

She leads the American Bankers Association's Economic Advisory Council and is a former member of the Blue Chip Group of Forecasters.
