In Brief: NationsBank to Issue Interior Dept.'s Cards

NationsBank Corp. has won a contract to provide purchase, travel, and fleet cards to the Department of the Interior.

NationsBank will issue 62,000 cards for 10 U.S. offices and bureaus of the department and more than 1,000 field offices. The five-year contract, with transaction volume estimated at $429 million a year, takes effect in November.

NationsBank may also provide add-on products such as stored-value cards and electronic bill payment.

"We are especially pleased with this award because it is potentially an integrated card that could combine purchase, travel, and fleet into a one- card solution," said Myra Woods, NationsBank senior vice president for government and commercial card products.

Under its master agreement with the General Services Administration, NationsBank also has card deals with the Department of Defense and the Department of Transportation.
