Card Briefs: PMT Services Buys 8,000-Account MBN

PMT Services Inc. said it has purchased MBN National Inc., which has 8,000 merchant accounts, with annual charge volume of about $400 million.

The independent sales organization also brings a sales force that generates 300 accounts per month.

"The acquisition of MBN will mark another successful step in PMT's" growth, said Richardson M. Roberts, chairman and chief executive officer of PMT.

PMT, the 12th-largest merchant processor, according to The Nilson Report, has been on buying spree. Since August, it has bought nine portfolios, with a combined $4.4 billion in annual charge volume.
