Spyrus WebWallet, GlobeSet Software Are Compatible

Two of the companies in last week's first wave of Secure Electronic Transaction certifications followed up with an interoperability announcement.

Spyrus of San Jose and GlobeSet Inc. of Austin, Tex., said that after extensive testing they can assure compatibility between the Spyrus WebWallet and GlobeSet's POS merchant software.

WebWallet and virtual wallets of GlobeSet, Trintech Group, and Verifone Inc. were the first to gain the right from SETCo, a credit card industry joint venture, to display the SET logo signifying compliance with version 1.0 of the Internet security standard.

"Interoperability testing combined with SET certification will be required to spur industry confidence in adopting day-to-day usage of SET," said Spyrus president and chief executive officer Sue Pontius.

Spyrus and Terisa Systems, which it acquired last year, have been closely involved in SET drafting and implementation. GlobeSet has built its strategy around guaranteed interoperability with any SETCo-certified product.

GlobeSet encourages all vendors to "establish full interoperability, helping further extend SET-based electronic commerce solutions," said vice president Dennis Jolly.
