Senior Republic N.Y. Official Returns to His Old Law Firm

Peter J. Mansbach, former chairman of the executive committees of Republic New York Corp. and Republic National Bank of New York, has returned to Kronish, Lieb, Weiner & Hellman LLP, where he previously was a senior partner.

Mr. Mansbach, a lawyer with the firm from 1966 to 1994, returns as of counsel, it said Tuesday. He remains a director of Republic National Bank of New York and its holding company as well as a consultant to them.

He had organized and opened various international businesses at Republic, including a family of mutual funds in London and in Guernsey in the Channel Islands; Safra Republic Investments Ltd.; and a national bank in the former Soviet Union.

Mr. Mansbach remains chairman of Van Cleef & Arpels' U.S. group and a director of its European group.

Kronish Lieb has 70 lawyers. Its corporate and commercial practice is primarily on individual transactions, but it also represents public and private companies on general business matters.
