Tech Bytes: Canadian Firm Sells Retail System to Vt. Bank

Northfield Savings Bank of Vermont is buying an Ovation client-server retail banking system from Prologic Corp., the Canadian vendor's U.S. headquarters announced.

The $350 million-asset savings bank, the second U.S. Ovation customer after Compubank of Houston, expects to have the system in its eight-branch operation by early 1999.

"Our goal is to expand our customer base through delivery of quality products and services," said Northfield Savings president and chief executive officer Bill Ellis. "With Ovation, we can identify our most valuable customers, deliver the best services, and focus on customer retention and cross-selling programs."

Prologic has a close alliance with Microsoft Corp. and runs on the Windows NT and SQL servers.

Prologic has 240 financial services customers around the world. U.S. general manager Peter Latare said the company has stepped up its investment in the Orlando office in response to growing U.S. demand.
