In Brief: New CEO Appointed at Summit's Pa. Unit

Summit Bancorp Wednesday named Maurice J. Spagnoletti, 44, chief executive officer of Summit Bank, Pennsylvania.

He succeeds John R. Howell, 64, who is retiring on June 30 but will remain chairman of the Pennsylvania bank. Mr. Spagnoletti was named president of the Pennsylvania region in March, following 16 years in regional bank management with Summit Bank, New Jersey.

Summit Bank, Pennsylvania, a unit of Summit Bancorp, Princeton, N.J., has 70 branches with $1.9 billion of deposits.
