Internet: Intuit, CNNfn.com Team in Web PFM

intuit's continuing push into the financial services space went one step further last month with its launch of Quicken.com on fn, a co-branded personal finance area created jointly with CNNfn.com, a financial news Web site where the new offering is located. It replaces the "Your Money" section.

Rivaling Microsoft Investor, Quicken.com on fn is free and pairs the latest financial information with personal financial management (PFM) tools so that consumers can make intelligent financial decisions. Intuit's Quicken.com will be the exclusive provider of PFM tools to CNNfn.com.

The site, with sections on banking, home and auto, investing, life, saving, and taxes, integrates business news, expertise and tools. It enables users to calculate how much one needs to save for retirement, for example, based on individual objectives, or to shop for insurance quotes and then go to Quicken.com to make the on-line purchase.

As Intuit chairman Scott Cook sees it, the partnership with CNNfn.com gives Quicken.com on fn a differentiating edge over that of competitors. "By bringing together a world-class financial news gathering organization and the most comprehensive personal finance tools and resources from Intuit, Quicken.com on fn offers the most valuable personal finance site free to consumers so that they can make the most of their money," he said in a statement to the press.
