Short Takes: 2 Energy Specialists Hired by BankBoston

BankBoston Corp. this week said it has added two investment bankers to focus on the energy sector.

Trond Rokholt is a managing director in the investment banking group and Richard Makin is a managing director in leveraged finance.

Both Mr. Rokholt and Mr. Makin joined the bank from ING Barings. Mr. Rokholt was a managing director in charge of oil and gas activity in South America while Mr. Makin was a senior vice president of loan syndications, responsible for structuring and distributing debt instruments in the natural resource sector.

"Once the pending acquisition of Robertson Stephens is complete, Rick's and Trond's extensive knowledge of the oil and gas business will enhance our combined expertise," Mary-Etta Schneider, head of special industries, leveraged finance, and loan syndications, said in a statement.

Earlier this month, BankBoston agreed to buy Robertson Stephens, a San Francisco investment banking firm, from BankAmerica Corp.
