Executive Changes: Citizens of R.I. Hires KeyCorp Exec as Senior VP for

Citizens Financial Group Inc., Providence, R.I., has hired Kent Allen as senior vice president of mergers and acquisitions, a newly created job.

Mr. Allen has relocated from Cleveland, where he was a senior vice president in corporate development at KeyCorp. He joined KeyCorp in 1985 as a financial analyst.

In addition, Citizens Bank of Rhode Island hired Marcy Holowiak as senior vice president and director of financial planning and insurance services-also a new job.

Ms. Holowiak had been a district manager at EQ Financial Consultants Inc., Greenwich, Conn., the financial planning unit of Equitable Cos.

NEW ENGLAND

First Union National Bank has promoted Kristin H. Murphy to senior vice president in Stamford, Conn..

Ms. Murphy is the bank's Connecticut commercial banking sales manager. She is responsible for serving companies with $3 million to $50 million in annual sales, and oversees seven commercial banking officers in the state.

She joined the bank in 1984 as a management trainee in commercial lending, worked as a credit analyst, and later she became a loan coordinator and commercial lender for Fairfield County.

The bank, based in Charlotte, N.C., is a unit of First Union Corp.

Greenwich Natwest in Connecticut, the global debt markets division of Natwest Group, has promoted Sheldon I. Goldfarb to global general counsel.

Mr. Goldfarb, who joined in 1994 as general counsel of the Greenwich Capital Markets division, has retained that job and assumed responsibility for all Greenwich Natwest legal, regulatory, and compliance issues. He expects to recruit a deputy general counsel to be based in London.

Mr. Goldfarb came to the Natwest unit from Goldman Sachs & Co., where he was a vice president and deputy general counsel. Earlier he was a partner with the law firm of Reavis & McGrath, and still earlier an enforcement division special counsel at the Securities and Exchange Commission.

SOUTHEAST

BankAtlantic, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., a subsidiary of BankAtlantic Bancorp, has promoted senior vice president and sales manager Ellen Schlafer to the additional post of marketing director.

She came to $3.5 billion-asset BankAtlantic in October from Barnett Bank, where she was senior vice president of retail marketing in Palm Beach County and earlier a market management consultant. Barnett, which hired her in 1993, was bought by NationsBank Corp. in January.

Ms. Schlafer started her career in Louisville, Ky., as vice president of retail marketing and sales at PNC Financial, a unit of PNC Bank Corp. Later she joined Republic Bancorp, also in Louisville; she was in charge of sales management, training, and residential loan production.

Hibernia National Bank, New Orleans, has promoted Jeanette L. Applewhite, Beth A. Cobb, Jen Cervantes, Diedra R. Dardis, and W. Whitfield Neill to vice president and has hired Paul M. Queyrouze and Jerry R. Shepard at the same level.

Ms. Applewhite and Mr. Cobb are both mortgage executives. Ms. Applewhite manages daily lending operations in greater New Orleans; Ms. Cobb is the regional manager of mortgage banking operations for the Mississippi towns of Hammond, Mandeville, Covington, Bogalusa, and Diamondhead, as well as for McKinney, Tex.

Ms. Cervantes and Ms. Dardis manage New Orleans branches- Ms. Cervantes the Poydras branch, Ms. Dardis the University branch.

Mr. Neill is responsible for risk management and administrative services in commercial real estate and construction loans.

The newly hired Mr. Queyrouze is responsible for small-business risk management. Mr. Shepard, the other new hire, manages asset-based loan portfolios.
