Short Takes: NationsBank Fla. Taps Chief for Private Clients

NationsBank Corp. recently named Susan H. Walker president of its Florida private-client group.

She assumed a post previously held by Tim Laney, who was named NationsBank's commercial growth group executive for Florida.

Ms. Walker continues as president of NationsBank Trust-Florida, the company said. She adds responsibility for sales, marketing, delivery, products, services, and personnel for the private-client business. NationsBank's private-client group offers a range of services, including lending, investment management, and trust.

Previously, Ms. Walker was market executive for the private-client group in Charlotte, N.C., where NationsBank is based. She joined a predecessor bank in 1980 and has worked in consumer and commercial banking and national credit training and policy.

Ms. Walker's appointment was announced by Adelaide A. "Alex" Sink, who was promoted to national president of NationsBank's private-client group in January.

Upon completion of NationsBank's pending merger with BankAmerica Corp., San Francisco, Ms. Sink would become head of NationsBank Florida's consumer and commercial banking. BankAmerica's private banking chief, William M. Goodyear, would head the private-client business. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter.
