In Brief: Texas Commerce Takes on the Chase Name

Beginning today, Texas Commerce Bank will be known as Chase Bank of Texas.

Texas Commerce, which was acquired by Chemical Bank in 1987, said Friday it planned to replace one major sign at each of its offices during the long Martin Luther King Day weekend. During the next three months, it plans to exchange more than 4,000 exterior signs for the red, white, and blue Chase Bank of Texas emblem.

Chemical merged with Chase Manhattan Corp. in 1995.
