The Florida Banking Association Names Executive

The Florida Banking Association has elected Rudy Schupp as president for a one-year term.

Mr. Schupp is chairman and chief executive officer of $1.3 billion-asset Republic Security Financial Corp., West Palm Beach, and its Republic Security Bank.

He began his banking career in 1972 with Key Bank of Albany, N.Y. Later he was a senior vice president at First Union National Bank in Charlotte, N.C., and at Amerifirst in Orlando.

Mr. Schupp co-founded Republic Security Bank in 1984 and took it public in 1985 as Republic Security Financial Corp.

As president of the trade group he succeeded Charlie W. Brinkley Jr, president and CEO of the Florida operations of Montgomery, Ala.-based Colonial Bank, a unit of Colonial Bancgroup.
