United States Trust Names Executive

MIDDLE ATLANTIC

United States Trust Company of New York promoted William A. Brigham, Leigh H. Weiss, Allen G. Oechsner, Angelika R. Maisenberger, and Alexander D. Powers to managing director.

Mr. Brigham is a portfolio manager in the personal wealth division. He joined the company in 1972 from the investment firm of Hornblower & Weeks- Hemphill, Noyes & Co.

Ms. Weiss is the head of the institutional investment management division and co-manager of the company-advised Excelsior Blended Equity Fund. Before joining U.S. Trust as a vice president in 1993, she was a vice president in Goldman Sachs & Co.'s investment banking division.

Mr. Oechsner is head of the institutional client services division. He joined the company in 1973 as a trade in the money markets division.

Ms. Maisenberger is head of the family wealth management group. She came to U.S. Trust as a senior vice president in 1996 from Chase Manhattan Bank, where was a vice president and manager of the wealthy-family servicing group. Earlier she was a systems engineer at the New York financial branch of International Business Machines.

Mr. Powers is head of the taxable fixed-income department. He joined the company in 1996 as a senior vice president, leaving Chase Asset Management Inc., where he was vice president and head of the U.S. taxable fixed-income investments department. Before coming to Chase he was a vice president and portfolio manager at Liberty Capital Management Inc.
